Why do we need to be motivated to expel the bad things from our lives? We value comfort and routine over happiness. How can we claim that free will is what separates us as a species, if we don't even use it? We constantly settle into our lives, lives that we don't want. There are more unfulfilled dreams in this world than insects.
We use free will in the most superficial manner. And then when it comes to our own personal survival we forget we ever had it. The trend of routine, of settling, of getting comfortable is not a function of society, it is innate in our humanness. We seek it out. So either we must embrace this or throw it off completely. There must be acceptance of the simplicity in comfort and repetition. It is not the hectic pace of a bad job, relationship or decision that drown us in stress, but our incapability to reconcile that we are actually clinging to it.
We have become so tightly bound to the perceptions of others and the expectations of others that we have completely lost our ability to source joy from our lives, to feel our own human nature, to see the bigger picture. We have isolated ourselves from nature in the most self-destructive way. The human race is a time-bomb exploding in slow motion. We have passed the detonation point and are heading for the recoil.
